Joining Franconia VFD usually takes between one to three months, and involve the following basic steps:

Contact us using our information request form. Make sure you select "Franconia VFD" under the Department option.

Schedule an interview.  You will meet with an officer from our station who can answer your questions about membership. You will also fill out a paper application to get the formal process started.

Attend First Reading.  You will be introduced to the department's members at a membership meetings.

Background check.  You will be asked to submit fingerprints and driving records for an eligibility background investigation.

Attend Second Reading/Membership vote.  After your background check is completed, the department will vote on your application at a membership meeting; if we offer you membership, you will be sworn in as a Probationary Member.

Probationary membership.  New members must complete a period of probationary membership, during which time you must meet certain participation requirements before being eligible for full membership.
